Announce the
2008 Residential Chipper Program
May 26th - 30th
Residents
living in the San Juan Canyon and Aromas (San Benito County) areas are
invited to participate in this year’s Residential Chipper Program.
Under this program, property owners who remove vegetative material from
their property to reduce the wildland fire hazard can have the material
chipped and disposed of at no cost. This year we are
offering several dates for the chipping program. Please return the
“Request for Chipping” form by mail, or fax with your preferred date(s).
Program
Guidelines:
1. All vegetative material must
be cut and piled curbside for pick-up by the weekend prior to the
chipping date. Please pile brush with cut branches facing the curb.
2.
Anything
that cannot readily be chipped will not be picked up under this program.
3.
No loose
material (leaves, grass, sod or firewood chunks). Nothing larger than 4
inches in diameter can be chipped.
4.
No
poison oak, metal objects or
wire. These materials represent a safety hazard, and will not be picked
up.
5.
Please return your Residential Chipping
Request Form by mail or fax, 1-2 weeks prior to the chipping date to
participate in this year’s program. You may also call Cindy Reeves at
the SBFSC office at 831-623-1677 and leave a message. If you are
located in Monterey County, please contact Catey Trenner at
(831)333-2622. Please let us know if you would like to keep your wood
chips.
6.
If you have a large pile to be removed, please
call in advance so that we can adjust our pickup schedule accordingly.
7.
Appointments will not be scheduled for the
chipping program. Days and times for the chipping contractor cannot be
pre-determined and vary depending on the number of participants and the
brush to be chipped. The piles will be chipped during the week stated.
This
program is jointly sponsored by the San Benito Fire Safe Council, Aromas
Tri-County Fire Protection District and the CAL FIRE with
Grant funding from
the Bureau of Land Management.
Remember:
The Residential Chipper Program is FREE!
Please
