Residential Chipping Program

Residents living in the San Juan Canyon and Aromas (San Benito County) areas are invited to participate in this year’s Residential Chipper Program.  Under this program, property owners who remove vegetative material from their property to reduce the wildland fire hazard can have the material chipped and disposed of at no cost.

Program Guidelines

  1. All vegetative material must be cut and piled curbside for pick-up by the weekend prior to the chipping date. Please pile brush with cut branches facing the curb.
  2. Anything that cannot readily be chipped will not be picked up under this program.
  3. No loose material (leaves, grass, sod or firewood chunks). Nothing larger than 4 inches in diameter can be chipped.
  4. No poison oak, metal objects or wire. These materials represent a safety hazard, and will not be picked up.
  5. If you have a large pile to be removed, please call in advance so that we can adjust our pickup schedule accordingly.
  6. Appointments will not be scheduled for the chipping program.  Days and times for the chipping contractor cannot be pre-determined and vary depending on the number of participants and the brush to be chipped.  The piles will be chipped during the week stated.
